Wirt County Schools has a new bus!! It will be Bus 49 and will be used by Billy Wells on his route. His route has been Bus 34 recently or sometimes E1. Please make note of the new bus number!
Our Intro to STEM students and a few of Ms. Lemley's simulated workplace students traveled to Discovery World on Market today for an AMAZING experience in their Makerspace. Students learned how to design objects in Adobe Illustrator and then cut and engrave using a laser cutter. Students also participated in a fun STEM challenge where they constructed a bow and arrow out of popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and straws. Thank you, Discovery World, for having us today!
A FREE CompTIA A+ course is being hosted at Wirt County High School. Any individual age 16 or older can attend! The training will be held April 5th, 6th, 19th, and 20th. Please see the flyer for more information and detailed times. There must be a minimum of 10 people registered for this class to be held.
CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for launching IT careers into today’s digital world. Participants in this boot camp will learn about hardware, operating systems, troubleshooting, networking, security, virtualization and cloud computing, and more! After attending the boot camp, participants will have up to one year to review additional study materials and take their CompTIA A+ certification test. The value of this training, the study materials, and the certification test is estimated to be $900 - $1000.

In order to support our students and see their success, WCHS will be offering after school tutoring beginning next week from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Each student has been sent a survey to fill out. Over 120 Wirt County High School students got to watch a livestream chat with a real astronaut today 🚀! They watched the downlink from the International Space Station with 👩🚀 Loral O'Hara, who's zipping around Earth right now! Megan Cutlip submitted her own question and was featured on the livestream! Her question was, "Was there anything about going to space that scared you?"
WCHS students will bring home their 2nd 9 Weeks/1st Semester Report Card and PSAT Score Sheet (grades 9-11) on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Our Communities in Schools program needs to restock its food pantry at WCHS! All donations are appreciated but here are some recommendations: individual serving items, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, canned soups, and hamburger helper. Donations may be dropped off at the office or given to Mrs. Moore.
Congratulations to our Most Improved Student for the 2nd nine weeks, Remmy Lynch! This award is given out by our Communities in Schools site coordinator, Mrs. Moore, and sponsored by our partner in education, Calhoun Banks.
Candy and Kane, the WCHS elves, have celebrated the holidays with our students all month long. Tomorrow is our final event! Plus, it's pajama day!
🧡 A.M. - Block the Door Canned Food Drive - Bring in canned goods to block your 1st - 4th period teachers' doors. If your teacher's door is blocked, you get to go to the morning activities featuring The Polar Express, a hot chocolate bar, makerspace in the library, gym time, and esports. Don't forget to pick up your golden ticket 🎫 in the commons are in the morning!
🖤 P.M. - Winterfest - Students who met the 35 LiveSchool point goal and had 3 or less unexcused absences in the 1st semester will attend stations of their choice all afternoon. Over 180 students qualified!
We will wrap up the day with our final club meetings of the year!
WCHS Parents: If your student qualified for Winterfest (our reward activities on Thursday), they received an orange permission slip this week. Those are due tomorrow!
It's a busy week at WCHS! Celebrate with us by participating in December Spirit Week! Monday is Ugly Sweater Day, Tuesday is Twin Day, Wednesday is Holiday Character Day, and Thursday is Pajama Day.
