Wirt County High School's student council is sponsoring a pumpkin drop for all DG classes. The pumpkin drop will be on October 31, 2022 from 2:30 - 3:19 p.m.
***Please note: The SIZE restriction on the pumpkin container has changed. It is now 24" L x 28" W x 36" H.
During the month of October, DG classes will work collaboratively to design a pumpkin drop container that is capable of protecting a pumpkin from being dropped off the third floor of the school. Students must work with their group and follow a specific set of rules which include:
- The container must be no greater than 24" L x 28" W x 36" H.
- The pumpkin and the inside of the pumpkin may not be altered in any way.
- The protective structure must be designed so that it does not cause any damage to the school property.
- No parachutes.
- No unpackaged food, freezing or adding chemicals.
- No electrical sources or bungee cords are allowed.
- Pumpkins and all materials must be contained inside one container (i.e. cardboard box or another similar material).
Pumpkins will be dropped from the third floor of the high school onto the courtyard. Classes whose pumpkins survive the fall will have their designs judged for creativity and innovation. The winning DG class will receive a Pie Party in November!
We invite parents and guardians to watch! More information will be shared closer to the event about signing into the school.
